Perplexing data from South Carolina

There has been considerable chatter about the news that Newt Gingrich captured 44% of the “Born Again or Evangelical Christian” vote (to the relatively anemic 21% each for Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney; CNN exit polling).

But I haven’t heard much about the news that Gingrich was the choice of only 6% of voters who say that “Strong Moral Character” is the “Most Important Candidate Quality.”

Draw your own conclusions.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the audience that booed a reference to the golden rule. Not having any of that sissy-Jesus “Do unto others” stuff. Wow, people. The mask didn’t just slip, you dropped it on the floor and stepped on it.

    Just sayin’.

The integrity deficit is really something, between this and the Gingrich “conversion” to Catholicism. I know people who were forced out of the church because of remarriage without annulment. Did he convert to a different Catholic Church or does he just have special rights?

But clearly the people who say that strong moral character is important do not have much overlap with the born again and evangelicals. HA!

    HA HA HA!
