Sign litter courtesy of the Black campaign

[Promoted by Liz, because it’s awfully early in the season for signs on the roadways. Yards, yes. Roads, no.]

The photo below was taken on July 8, 2011 at 11:07 AM at the intersection of Rte 7 and Rte 287.  The driver was littering the highway right of way with Dick Black campaign signs.  The campaign worker’s car was facing North on Rte 287 in Purcellville.  At the time the photo was taken, the young man was littering the South side of the Westbound entrance ramp – behind me.  I would have liked to have snapped his picture, but Dick Black supporters are virulent homophobes and I didn’t want deal with additional filth.  Please click on the image to view a full size image.

Isn’t littering a crime?  I wonder if Dick Black knows?

Liz, you are absolutely right. It’s also interesting to point out that the Black’s alarm bell over the school play issue was rung by then Republican Bob Onheiser.

My experience with Dick Black’s supporters (at least since the 2005 race) has been that yes, they are homophobes. Remember, it was Dick Black who pushed the fuss against the school play, and his supporters were definitely there with Marshall’s getting the so-called marriage amendment passed.

So, I didn’t have a problem with that characterization in the post. Especially since it explained why Pariahdog didn’t confront the person posting the signs.

Well, anonymous, ‘homophobe’ is a synonym for a person driven by anti-gay prejudice, and adding the modifier ‘virulent’ would describe a person who would agree with such things as this fundraising letter (and whether ED posted it here himself or not, the letter itself is not a hoax). If what you are saying is that suggesting a person agrees with or believes this sort of idiocy amounts to name-calling, good for you.

If you’re saying that there are DB supporters who don’t agree with it, well, I’ve never seen any evidence of that. Do you have some?

  4. Homosexuals are ...

Dick Black supporters are virulent homophobes

Wow, I didn’t realize the site’s rules had changed so drastically, but since the post was promoted by Liz, it must be so.

Shall I accept this as an invitation to play the homosexuals are insert stereotypical comment here and liberals are insert gratuitous assertion here game?

To clarify, this is a community site, and it’s fine for authors to moderate their own posts. Maybe this would be more on-topic on Larry’s post.

I commented on Larry’s belligerently incorrect comment on sign litter, Jonathan.

Not trying to pick a fight.

I have politely posted several corrections to his website, which are ignored, which I don’t mind because in the long run the incorrect information does him more harm than good.

    Are you a moderator now?

    Barbara,

Your comment is off topic and belligerent. If you’d like to talk about sign litter, you’re welcome to comment. If you want to pick fights, find another venue.

Larry, I read your campaign update.

I’m terribly sorry (not really, but this is a site that promotes courteous language) that you chose not to take advantage of the opportunity made available to all candidates to purchase a booth at Celebrate South Riding, and were consequently so very outraged that Republican candidates DID take it.

The complaints that occasioned the multiple visits by HOA volunteers to view the tent in order to evaluate the complaint of the hour was surely an excellent use of volunteer time (much as the large in-kind donation for your jingle might have been better invested in a booth, but that would have taken thought, planning, and work), as you are no doubt aware from your many many hours of involvement in community activities since you moved in years ago (sorry, but I’m prone to sarcasm). My favorite was that balloons being filled INSIDE THE TENT were somehow blocking people from visiting all the other booths. Nice one.

Perhaps the most egregious misrepresentation in your wounded words is the “law breaking”, and your rather amazing attempt to curry some rapprochement with an Arabic Republican candidate that you hounded and harrassed throughout that event, going so far as to call his newly-emigrated brother an ******* for simply standing on a public street outside the event asking for signatures to get his brother on the ballot, as were several other candidates and their (many) volunteers.

The sweeping statements you make in your update about the Islamic community and how they feel about Republicans kind of fall flat when you harass naturalized Americans from the middle east for having the sense to work an event that, as usual, you were a day late and a dollar short on participating in.

I realize that with your background, it can be very tempting to think that because YOU THINK something, it is so, but that does not mean that the Dulles South Safety Station and the Dulles South Mulitpurpose Center were named for the Dulles South precinct (misinformation which remains uncorrected on your website) which POSTDATES both facilities by several years, or that Jenny Dean lived and founded her famous school in Loudoun, or most of anything else you’ve based what campaigning you are doing on.

If you have actual firsthand knowledge of signs available “the size of VWs”, please publish the information.

I want one for the month before election day for Matt Letourneau.

I’m starting to see signs in various places… one in Leesburg yard for Scott York, to be specific.

Curious, since a month ago while working on another’s campaign, I called the Electoral Board and asked when yard signs are allowed under rule of law. The answer was “September 9.”

To say nothing of the Republcan signs the size of VWs posted in South Riding medians in direct violation of HOA rules! The Republicans just keep breaking the rules in South Riding. Guess they don’t care about the people — and these activities comes from the people who during redistricting pretended to care about the will of the people. Fortunately, the South Riding HOA took the signs down instantly.
